SEPSIS GLOBAL CHANGE AGENTS: PATIENT, TO DOCTOR, TO PATIENT

We didn't know the meaning of the words "Severe Sepsis." The words stood out in the report, I knew it was something "bad." I turned to my cell phone for answers. What I read was disturbing. I glanced at Fleetwood, he looked dejected and concerned. He looked at me and said, Cocoa, it's not good for me is it? I replied, "honey, your doctors will help you get better with medication and rest. You will be all right! Little did we know, instead, our lives would never be the same again. The ride home was somber and quiet. The journey as developed afterwards is too extensive to share in this writing. An invisible enemy traveled home with us, thrived in my home and quietly took over the body of my sweet, caring husband. We went back and forth to specialist and his primary care physician, yielded nothing; because they often failed to communicate with each other. Fleetwood asked them to talk to each other because he had that kind of relationship with them all. His doctors referred to him as the "bionic man." He thought they were working collaboratively with each other, him. I did too! All his records were available for medical personnel to review if required. Lord knows, I didn't understand it! Why? We were in a "medical desert" a place I could never have imagined, nor Fleetwood. My best friend, the love of my life lived less than (2) two months after the revelation, and I couldn't save him! I am heartbroken and committed to find a way to cure and eradicate SEPSIS. It is one of the deadliest diseases in the world! Because I wasn't aware or educated about a lot of things, I did by chance, document things I observed and heard. I pray and hope my experiences will benefit others. It is a deadly disease that disguises itself as "rest and sleep." It's a dark shadow! Everyday I read and talk to people globally about this killer, I realize I am not alone. God help us! It is so sad that many people in the medical field, first responders, are not familiar with the term SEPSIS. I am not surprised anymore.
